Ozine Fest: Anime Figure Special started to get more exciting as day 2 of the event is dedicated for cosplayers with the individual cosplay competition.
Since my main focus is to cover the cosplay competition, I tried to relax a little by lining-up for the Gundam booth to build a Gundam model. Their featured Gundam at that time was AGE-1 Gundam AGE-1 Normal with DODS Rifle and Shield from the anime Gundam AGE.
Day 2 of Ozine Fest also featured a karaoke contest and the Battle of the Bands – Acoustic Night, with a different set this time, and it was held in the afternoon.
The Ozine Fest staff also invited Filipino solo singer and songwriter, Mayumi Gomez as one of the performers in the event. She performed acoustic renditions of anime songs – “Let me be with you” from Chobits and “Full Moon Sway” by Beck. She also performed 2 of her original songs on stage – one is titled “In the End”
Mayumi is a 21 year-old singer/songwriter residing in Manila. She wants to introduce a fresh new sound to Philippine rock by combining Japanese style music with other genres like disco, funk, punk rock, hiphop and pop. [via Facebook page]
At exactly 5 in the afternoon, the individual cosplay competition started with a total 95 registered cosplayers participated. Among the crowd favorites were Superman, War Machine from Ironman, Shin-chan from Crayon Shin-chan and Sharivan Spark from Uchuu Keiji Sharivan. Let us not forget Red Angry Bird as he transformed into Red Hawk from Chōjin Sentai Jetman and with that he won an award.
Ozine Fest: Anime Figure Special Cosplay Competition Winners

Best in Robot – Rb Cheng as Zoids
Best in Movie – Herbert Chavez as Superman
Best in Anime – Vinnie Alano as Reborn
As event came to its end, the last batch of items were lined-up on stage to be auctioned. I tried to bid for anime tarpaulins of Hitagi Senjōgahara and Tsubasa Hanekawa, one of my favorite characters from the anime Bakemonogatari, unfortunately I felt short of cash as prizes for these items went as high as Php 500 each. Surely, those people are Hitagi and Tsubasa devotees.
Another item auctioned was one ream of Yakult, yes!, you heard me right, Yakult! It was very hilarious but definitely, one of the ice-breakers during the auction. Yakult was sold at Php 300 to a couple. The auction went on until past 9 PM.
In the end, the Ozine Fest: Anime Figure Special was definitely a enjoyable convention – program went smoothly as activities went on time on stage despite minor technical and security issues happened during the visit of guest, Alodia Goseingfiao. It was not as enthusiastic like the usual conventions but definitely an innovative one especially for all the toy “lovers”.
Hope to see you on summer of 2012 for the Ozinefest 2012.
