A photograph of Japanese actress and model, Yuu Ao as Rurouni Kenshin’s Megumi Tagami was posted on film websites, The Cinema Today and Eiga.com.

Ao will be playing an enigmatic, assertive female doctor, Megumi in the upcoming live-action film Rurouni Kenshin.

Known as the “fox lady”, Megumi  is the youngest daughter of Takani Ryūsei, a well-known doctor in Aizu which was an important province supporting the Tokugawa Shogunate.  After becoming a medically proficient in her own right, she became the assistant of a doctor secretly making drugs for the industrialist Takeda Kanryū. Attempting to escape, Megumi was tailed by Kanryū’s men and fled to the protection of Himura Kenshin and the Kamiya dojo.

Ao previously played as Hagumi Hanamoto in the 2006 live action film Honey and Clover and Tanyu in the 2006 live action film Mushishi.

Rurouni Kenshin live-action film will premiere on August 25, 2012.
