Last January 26, Sachi Publishing released its premiere issue of otaku lifestyle magazine Shuffle+ during the Otaku Expo 2013 held at SM Megatrade Hall 1 in Mandaluyong City.
Editor-in-Chief Ida Karmela Tan tagged it as the country’s first otaku lifestyle magazine as it features articles not only for anime fanatics but also those who are inclined in cosplaying, toy collecting, gaming, music, fashion, and Asian dramas. The magazine also caters readers from the K-pop community through their KStyle, KDrama and Manhwa Zone (Manhawa means Korean comics) sections.
The first issue contains 82 pages featuring Summer 2012 hit-anime series Sword Art Online (SAO) as front cover. Twelve pages of the magazine were dedicated to SAO and its “sequel” Alfheim Online.
For toy enthusiasts, a “Collection’s Den” section is dedicated where various toy figures are being showcased. In this issue, it featured four – Nendoroid Asuna, Figma Mami Tomoe, Nendoroid Petit and 1/8 scaled figure of Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois.
The magazine has this “Be Our Guest” section were they feature local cosplayers and in the first issue, it featured 20-year-old Kristell “Telly” Lim. Ms. Lim was in the event to promote the magazine.
At the Shuffle+ booth in Otaku Expo 2013, they were giving away free Sword Art Online merchandises for every purchase of the magazine.
Shuffle+ magazine is worth Php 90 and it is already available in all Comic Alley stores, Big Boys Toy Stores and soon on National Bookstore branches.
