Held last July 7, the Cosplay Got Talent contest at the recently concluded Anime and Cosplay Expo (ACX) featured several acts and performances of individuals and groups who wanted to showcased their talents while in cosplay.
The first runner up was awarded to the group Nightshifters who performed a a song from the series Love Live! . A sub-unit of a larger Love Live! inspired group named Dream catchers, the group is composed of Riah de Jesus as Maki Nishikino, Johara Alonso as Nozomi Tojo and Kayhel Casiano as Umi Sonoda.
Emerging as overall champion is Johannie Velasco. Dressed as the Sakura Kinomoto, the heroine of the anime Cardcaptor Sakura, she wowed the audience with her rendition of the classic anime series’ ending song “Groovy”.
Johannie’s singing talent has won her several contests in the past, including the Grand Prize in the recently concluded 2018 Jpop Anime Singing Contest by the Embassy of Japan.
Apart from their prizes, the winners will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the opening performance for th upcoming JAM Concert during Cosplay Mania 2018. Happening on September 29-30, 2018, this year’s JAM concert will be graced by artists from Japan such as Zwei, AiRi, fhana and Megumi Nakajima.
