Japan’s horror icon is back to Philippine cinemas this October.
Titled ‘Sadako’, the film will be screened to local cinema this October 30 nationwide, Viva International Pictures announced on Wednesday.
Set in today’s world, the new film revolves around Mayu Akigawa, a psychology counselor who gets involved with Jinko, a mysterious girl who lost her memory. Meanwhile, her younger brother Kazuma Akigawa, a YouTuber who tries to get more viewers by sneaking into a burned down site where 5 people died.
Filipino-Japanese actress Elaiza Ikeda is cast as the lead role Mayu, while Kazuma is played by Hiroya Shimizu.
The new Sadako film is based on novel ‘Tide’ by Koji Suzuki and it is directed by Hideo Nakata, the director of first Sadako film, The Ring.
The film was released in Japan last May 24.
