The official website for upcoming anime film Josee, the Tiger and the Fish on Wednesday announced that the film will premiere on December 25 in Japan.
The film was supposedly scheduled for release in Summer but it has been delayed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The cast was also announced, which includes Taishi Nakagawa as Tsuneo Suzukawa, Kaya Kiyohara as Josee, Yume Miyamoto as Mai Ninomiya, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Hayato Matsuura, Lynn as Kana Kishimoto and Chiemi Masudera as Chizu Yamamura.
Singer-songwriter “Eve” will be performing the film’s theme song titled “Ao no Waltz.”
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish is based on the 1984 novel of the same name by Seiko Tanabe. It tells the story about a young girl on a wheelchair who calls herself Josee, who starts to experience the outside world after meeting Tsuneo, a fourth year student at a university.
The film is directed by Kotaro Tamura, who also worked on anime series Noragami. It will be animated by studio Bones. Other staff includes Nao Emoto (original character design), Haruko Iizuka (chief animation director), Sayaka Kuwamura (scriptwriter), loundraw (concept design) and Eval Call (music)
