Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway is the first in the three-part anime film series based on a series of novels created and written by Yoshiyuki Tomino. The series is set in U.C.105 or seven years after the end of the Second Neo Zeon War.

It follows Hathaway Noa, who now goes by the name Mufti Nabiyy Erin, as he starts a terrorist group to stop the abuses of the Earth Federation.

The film was originally scheduled for release in Japan on July 23, 2020 but it was delayed to May 7, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It became a trending topic among local anime fans after some scenes in the film will feature the Philippines, particularly Davao.

The first film is expected to be shown in other countries in the Southeast Asia region including the Philippines.
