Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer for the forthcoming live-action adaptation of City Hunter, set to premiere on April 25. The teaser provides a glimpse into the film’s mix of action and drama, featuring snippets of TM NETWORK’s iconic ending theme, “Get Wild Continual.”
The film follows Ryo and Hideyuki’s quest to find Kurumi, a famous cosplayer, amidst mysterious incidents in Shinjuku. Tragedy strikes when Hideyuki is killed during the investigation, prompting Kaori to urge Ryo to uncover the truth.
City Hunter, inspired by Tsukasa Houjou’s manga, has a rich legacy with previous adaptations, including a 1993 film starring Jackie Chan, a 2019 French adaptation, and an upcoming Chinese rendition. The manga’s lasting impact led to multiple anime versions, beginning with a TV series in 1987. Sequels, specials, and movies have since kept fans engaged, alongside spin-off manga projects introduced from 2017.
Directed by Yuichi Sato and written by Tatsuro Mishima, the film stars Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba, Misato Morita as Kaori Makimura, Masanobu Ando as Hideyuki Makimura, and Fumino Kimura as Saeko Nogami.
