Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle Story coming to theaters as trilogy

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” the final arc of the beloved anime, has been announced as a three-part theatrical release following the final episode of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc” in Japan. The films will be distributed worldwide excluding select Asian territories including Japan, by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The release date is yet to be announced.

Based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga series, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” has won global acclaim since its debut in 2018. The series follows Tanjiro Kamado, who joins the Demon Slayer Corps to avenge his family’s murder and save his sister Nezuko, who has been transformed into a demon.

The anime premiered in April 2019 with the “Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” followed by the record-breaking “Mugen Train” film in October 2020. Subsequent arcs, including the “Mugen Train Arc” and “Entertainment District Arc,” aired between 2021 and 2022. In 2023, the “Swordsmith Village Arc” premiered on Crunchyroll, along with the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village-” theatrical release. The “Hashira Training Arc” debuted in 2024, following the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To Hashira Training-” theatrical release. The series is produced by ufotable.

“Mugen Train” holds records as the highest-grossing anime movie and Japanese film globally, with over $500 million in box office earnings. It ranks as the second-highest-grossing anime film in U.S. history and boasts a 98% critic score and 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
